Then a 6... read more day road trip to the sights of athens: Corinth, Olympia, Delphi, and then 2 nights in Meteora. All by private Mercedes sedan, (but taxi color for ease of travel). The vehicle was always clean and tip top shape. Just simply comfortable. The pace was to our comfort.. And we were kinda fast according to Spiros, our driver. We did as much as we could as per his advice. We ate in all his recommend restaurants which were good food but not expensive! Hotels were pre arranged by Nikos and his team and they were all comfortable and clean. Hotels Europa, iridanos, and park stand out! Shout out to our personal guide and driver SPIROS, a former heavy weight boxing champ of Greece, definitely made us feel welcome, comfortable, and definitely safe. He knew everyone where we stopped, the policeman, the souvenir truck owner, hoteland restaurant owners, and kitchen stsff. Even the street dogs! Booking with Nikos and his wife was a breeze. No deposit needed! And not a hitch along the way that we noticed. Ps.. There was one error in hotel booking but Spiros fixed it all on the fly, by just a simple call to the hotel owner.. Problem solved. I hear the whole team of PGT is just efficient. Therefore, I do not hesitate to RECOMMEND IN A HEART BEAT, booking and travel with PGT! A job well done.

Our driver, Kostas, proved to be a local expert as he masterfully maneuvered the narrow streets of Athens. He was always waiting for us when we descended from various sites with his clean, air-conditioned car, chilled bottles of water and a huge smile.

The star of the day, however, was our licensed private guide, Katerina. In order to accompany guests into the historical sites, guides must sit for rigorous courses including history, archeology, the history of art, geology, first aid, economy, traditions, mythology, religion, flora and of course, tourism.

We knew we wanted background information when visiting sites, so we asked Nikos to find us a private guide. We hit the jackpot with Katerina. She was extremely knowledgeable about all things Greece, was personable, kind and patient.

She helped rearrange our tour so we could see all the important things. She recommended a delicious, non-tourist-trap, seafood restaurant with the most breathtaking views on our way to Cape Sounion. She answered every question, took many photos and forever left an impression on us.

Thank you Nikos, Kostas and Katerina for making our first trip to Athens one to remember!

  This tour was a 5 day Classical Tour from Athens (Picked up and returned to Hotel in Athens) with a Private Driver Spiros (Spyros), travelling in Luxury Mecedes Benz Station... read more Wagon with heaps of room for wife and myself and all luggage in the rear of vehicle. Spiros took a personal interest in us pointing out points of interest on the way. and also giving us the History of Sights along the way. We had private guides at several sites who escorted and explained to us the History and Significance of the Sites. We visited Cornith Canal, Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nafplion, Olympia Site & Museum, Delphi and Meteota Rocks and Monasteries. Spiros worked in conjunction with the Guides so as to avoid as much as possible the large crowds. We stayed at Hotel Gambello, Europa, Nidimos and Meteoritis (ALL BOOKED BY Private Greece Tours) all Excellent and well placed in towns and sites we visited. Spiros our driver/guide assisted my wife with some medical issues and went out of his way to obtain advise from Doctors/Pharmacy Staff getting her the appropriate medication. I have no hesitation in HIGHLY RECOMMENDING BOTH PRIVATE GREECE TOURS and SPIROS (SPYROS) TO PEOPLE WANTING TO SEE GREECE. I booked this tour in 2019 however because of Co-vid 19 Virus and Restrictions Wife and I could not do it until 2022. (PRICE REMAINED THE SAME) Further I booked direct on the internet with P.G.T.s (not using travel agent) & spoke couple of times directly on the phone this was simple and Hassle Free. (Australian with Limited Internet Skills) I will use P.G.T. again if going to Greece.
