The thing... read more that was most impressive to me is that they go the extra mile to help you have the most enjoyable trip and to utilize your time in the best way. Our drive to Meteora was fantastic due to the stops along the way in small villages for coffee overlooking the countryside and then the perfect lunch spot with the best view and terrific food. These are details we didn’t ask for, it’s just part of the excellent service provided. Spyros is an expert in Greek history and he also has an uncanny ability to steer you to some of the best food you will ever eat! Their suggestion for our hotel in Meteora was amazing and felt like something out of a storybook. Spyros knew all the best places for photography and subsets. Top it off with a hand delivered dessert from one of the best bakeries in town. Who does this? Spyros and Private Greek Tours! PS-I never write reviews, but I just had to vouch for this company! I even learned how to make the famous Greek cabbage rolls thanks to Spyros! Five stars isn’t enough!

There was plenty of time to visit each place, walk around, take pictures, etc. It also gave us a lay of the land so we understood the general idea of where things were in Athens compared to our hotel. Once we were done with our tour we learned that no more than 3 people are allowed in a taxi due to Covid restrictions. It made no sense for us to take 2 taxis everywhere, especially back to the airport. I reached out to Nikos and he immediately set up our additional transfer to the Athens airport.   Our Private Tours Greece 5-day tour to Argolis, Olympia, Delphi, Meteora, Epidaurus was absolutely the best part of our month in Greece. Communication in setting up the tour was clear... read more and efficient. Expectations, accommodations, timelines, payment, etc. were explained in detail. Nikos Loukas provided his phone number, and he responded quickly to calls and texts. Everything was provided exactly as described. There were no surprises or unexpected charges.
While we have traveled independently in many areas of Europe, we had never done a private tour. We were so fortunate to have Elias as our very professional driver and our informal guide. He was personable and engaging, a very fluent English speaker, knowledgeable of ancient Greek and Roman history, mythology, and Christianity and the early church. He could describe the conflicts with the Ottoman Empire and the Greek War for Independence. By the time we arrived at a tour location, we were “full” of information and were provided maps to guide us at the sites. Because only licensed tour guides can accompany visitors into Greek sites, Elias dropped us as close as possible to the entrance and waited for us at a designated location. We never felt the need for a tour guide and sympathized with tour groups who had to stay together while we wandered wherever we wanted. We could visit as much or as little of a location as we wanted. Of course, we always tried to see it all. During our time together, we talked about shared interests, family, and details of the areas we passed through. Elias was more than our driver; we consider him a friend.
In addition to the cities named in the tour description, we toured the Corinth Canal, visited the shores the Apostle Paul sailed to Ephesus, the ruins of Ancient Corinth, where Paul preached to the Corinthians, the memorial of the Battle of Thermopolye and the hot sulphur springs there. We ate the best gelato in Nafplio and did a spontaneous hike to a fort in the region where Theodoros Kolokotronis had led the Greeks against the Ottoman Empire. We stopped to see a modern Trojan horse and stayed to meet the gallery owner and find some unique souvenirs. We rode the ferry from the Peloponnese to the mainland. Every day was an adventure, and Elias never seemed to tire. This is far more than a four-night, five-stop event.
Each of the four hotels on our tour was exceptional quality and very fairly priced. Breakfast was provided. We ate other meals at tavernas Elias recommended; the food and views never disappointed. Elias took care of our bags from arrival, to our room, to departure. In fact, that was a hallmark of our tour. We were taken care of. We could relax and not anticipate what we had to do or where we had to be next. The Mercedes was spotlessly clean, spacious, and comfortable. Elias took many photos of the two of us at locations through the tour. We rarely have photos of the two of us on our trips. That was very nice.
Can you tell we loved this tour? If we ever are able to return to Greece, we will book more adventures with Private Tours Greece and hope that Elias can again be our guide.

He tried to get me to all the places I wanted to go. He kept reminding me that this was MY private tour and that I was the boss. Something you cannot get from those large package deal places. Can’t say enough about him. The car was immaculate. His knowledge about history and the metropolis is amazing. We saw the Parthenon, Zeus Temple, the Presidential Guard Change, St George Cathedral, Temple of Athena , Panathenaic Stadium, etc. After the tour we went for lunch and then to the airport. This is our 2nd time using this company. We definitely recommend it. Thanks Nikos for always communicating in a timely manner.
